A Whole New Take On Cardboard: Bicycles

I was thoroughly impressed when I saw this, cardboard bike design.
Via NPR
"An Israeli inventor has come up with a way to make a bicycle almost entirely out of cardboard — and so inexpensively that he thinks retailers would only need to charge about $20 for one.
The inventor, Izhar Gafni, believes the bike could be a boon to the world's most traffic-congested cities and help people in remote parts of the Third World get from place to place. He's reached a deal to start mass production in a few months, Gafni tells Reuters.
How did he do it? As Reuters says, "once the shape has been formed and cut, the cardboard is treated with a secret concoction made of organic materials to give it its waterproof and fireproof qualities. In the final stage, it is coated with lacquer paint for appearance." by

Giles Miller Studio.

My favorite part about taking BART to SFO is the installation surrounding the escalators as  you enter/leave. I saw these innovative surfaces on yellowtrace and was immediately impressed and in love...with all of them. It's worth checking out. Here's his website Giles Miller.

It's possible to own a flying car. The proof is below. The catch is it's 1.25 million dollars.

the Machook: simple.

Maybe it's because I really enjoy headphones and organization but I think this is genius.  The Machook is  a design with a single purpose: to hang on your Mac and hold your headphones.

live music.

I went to the Independent the other night with Emilie and Tracy, where Benjamin Francis Leftwich was the opener for the Jezabels. I wasn't familiar with him, but I'm a a big fan now.

Old Photographs

I came across some old photographs of the SF earthquake on, Haighteration and then since NY is on my mind I found old photographs on HUH. I thought the photos were pretty cool and started looking into other archives of old photos. I came across a site called Old S.F. that is pretty amazing. It's an interactive map of SF where you can adjust the years (1850 - 2000) to show locations that have photographs from all different years. It's worth checking out.
