today's craft project

Here's my activity for the day (well, one of them): DIY gold dipped glassware. Not only is it classy but gold spray paint is involved. Hopefully they're done by this evening and I can bring them over to Tim and Michele's house...

I'll post pictures once I've finished the project. Cheers.

knitting season

It's officially knitting season, it's cold, rains occasionally and cloudy. Next on my list is an afghan...chances are it won't be finished until next year.

this is my current dilema

apparently a book just came out about it...
Hire Me! The Portfolio Handbook

love these little houses (especially the barns)

"The series Broken houses is based on photographs of abandoned structures neglected by man and destroyed by the weather. His photographs are used to create small scale models. Afterward, in the studio, the models are photographed again, omitted from their background and placed in gray."

a quick trip...bike camping

it was saturday and time for a mini adventure. damon and i were going bike camping. note, this was not a spur of the minute decision. we packed up our bikes...filled damon's panniers, "loaded" my back rack and were set...off to samuel p. taylor we go.

long story short we made it to samuel p. taylor. we set up camp on a bit of a slope, then played in the river, made some food on the fire pit and wondered for a while.

the next day we headed back to the city, stopping for coffee along the way of course. even though it was just a night away it felt good to escape sf. that's my story.

new to me.

while wondering the city today with my friend fauve i came across a couple things that were worthwhile. it's possible that i'm behind the times. but here it goes...
1. cake pops - simply a bite of cake on a stick.

2. a dirty ashtray - just to be clear this involves beer. not cigarettes. it goes a little something like this...
     step one: unopened hamms
step two: hot sauce poured on top
step three: salt and pepper added
step four: a small piece of lime squeezed on top
step five: drinker opens can right after the lime is squeezed
     step six: drink
wild right?

3. a book called: atlas of remote islands -we stopped in revolver where i saw this book. it has fifty essentially unknown island where the author judith schalansky writes description of each. really you have to look through the book to see how great it is.

day time fireworks are just as fun...

we all know fireworks go hand and hand with the 4th of july, but generally we imagine them being at night. therefor, i figured i'd share some day time fireworks (aka debauchery) instead...

things may have gotten a little out of hand when people became targets.
along with the  fireworks came ducking for cover. no joke.
there you have it folks. while color and darkness is lacking there's still the sounds, enthusiasm and excitement...but i think next year i'm sticking with the traditional evening fireworks.
